Family Friendly Attractions
Finding places that’ll keep little ones entertained, big kids curious, and us grown-ups happily caffeinated is easier than you might think.
With plenty to see, eat, drink and do, finding things to do on Anglesey for families is the easy part – choosing is where you might struggle.
Whether you’re local, and on the hunt for weekend plans, or visiting Anglesey with children, we’ve rounded up the best attractions, indoor activities, and hidden gems that are perfect for kids of all ages. Ps – some are free!
Making the Most of the Outdoors

Foel Farm Park
If you’re after a day out that’s fun for the kids and easy for the grown-ups, Foel Farm Park in Brynsiencyn is a solid choice.
With sweeping views over the Menai Strait and Snowdonia in the distance, it’s the kind of place where you can just turn up and let the day unfold.
Little ones can enjoy hands-on animal encounters (think feeding sheep, meeting ponies, and seeing the pigs snuffle around), while bigger kids can burn off energy on the giant jumping pillow, ride-on tractors, and bikes.
There’s even a tractor-and-trailer ride around the farm, which is always a hit.

Beaumaris Castle & Town
There’s a big park with a fantastic play area, perfect for kids to run off some steam, plus a pebbly beach that’s great for a paddle and a picnic. The Victorian pier is a real highlight. Bring along a bucket and line for a spot of crabbing (a guaranteed crowd-pleaser).
On warmer days, towels and some spare clothes are essential for when the kids inevitably pester you to let them go in the outdoor pool.
When tummies start to rumble, Beaumaris is packed with family-friendly pubs, cafés, and restaurants. Whether you’re after fish and chips with a sea view or a cosy lunch indoors, you’ll find something that hits the spot.

Anglesey Coastal Walks
One of the best ways to soak up Anglesey’s natural beauty is by heading out on a coastal walk, even with little legs in tow!
With plenty of gentle, stroller-friendly routes that still deliver on the wow-factor, children can enjoy endless wildlife and plenty of rock pools along the way.
If you’re looking for an easier route, try the path from Moelfre to Lligwy Beach for an easy stroll with cliffside views. Or the section near Rhosneigr if you fancy spotting seabirds and seals along the way.
Pack some snacks, pop on your wellies if it’s muddy, and turn it into a mini adventure. These coastal paths aren’t just great for stretching your legs, they’re a chance to explore the island’s wild side, at your own pace.
Rainy Day Ideas
Let’s be honest — Welsh weather can be a bit unpredictable, so it’s always good to prepare for rain. Lucky for you, Anglesey has plenty of family-friendly indoor options that’ll save the day when the rain clouds roll in.

Anglesey Sea Zoo
At Anglesey Sea Zoo, almost everything is covered, making it ideal for soggy days.
The exhibits are engaging and educational, and there’s a really cool stingray exhibition where they’ve built a bridge so you can see them underfoot.
It’s big enough to fill a morning or afternoon, but not so huge that you’ll end up exhausted. If it stops raining mid-visit, there’s a beach, play, and picnic area just outside too.

Oriel Môn Art Gallery and Museum
A bit of culture might not sound like the kids’ first choice, but Oriel Môn in Llangefni does a brilliant job of keeping younger visitors engaged.
The gallery often runs family-friendly exhibitions and creative workshops during school holidays.
The space is bright and welcoming, and there’s a café on site too. It’s ideal for a quieter day out that still ticks the “we did something interesting” box.
Top Family-Friendly Beach Days

Lligwy Beach
Lligwy Beach is spacious and sandy, with shallow waters that are great for paddling. There’s a small café nearby too which is always a plus.
Newborough Forest & Llanddwyn Island
A firm favourite amongst families from all walks of life, Newborough Forest and Llanddwyn Island is a magical combo of forest walks, beach time, and the legendary home of Welsh patron saint Dwynwen.
Benllech Beach
A family favourite, generation after generation; Benllech has easy parking, toilets, and access to chips and ice cream. What more could anybody want?

Plas Newydd House & Gardens (National Trust)
Kids can explore the gardens and spot red squirrels while adults enjoy the views over the Menai Strait.

Puffin Island Cruise
For younger children wanting to explore Anglesey from a new angle, the Puffin Island Boat Tour is pretty fun.
Before Heading Anywhere…
- Check opening times: Some attractions close mid-week or during winter months.
- Pack layers: The weather can switch quickly, especially near the coast.
- Bring change for parking: Many smaller beach spots still use coin-operated machines.
